Dear Student,
Two new changes are coming your way…
Starting October 15...
IMAP Access to Student Email
Southwestern will provide students IMAP access to their student email. This will allow you to use any mail client that supports IMAP (Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, and other IMAP-compliant products). IMAP will facilitate mailbox management and provide easier access to your email messages. We will post the pertinent information you need to properly configure an email client to send and receive email. However, beyond that we will not be able to provide support. For help, please check the help site for your particular email client.
We have good news for those students who like the online interface: The online email interface will remain available for those who would like to continue using it. As usual, you will be able to log into the web interface at the following address:
http://elearning.swbts.edu
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
We are providing IMAP access for those students who are using other types of web clients (for example, Outlook, Outlook Express, or Thunderbird) and would like to use those clients to access student email. To use the new IMAP service, it will be necessary for you to configure your email client.
Again, due to the vast number of email clients that are available, we cannot provide support for this. You will need to check your client's help manual or web site for instructions. On October 15, we will post the addresses you will need to configure your IMAP settings.
New Mailbox Limit
Due to space limitations on our mail server, Southwestern will implement a mailbox quota on all mailboxes. The quota will be 100Mb maximum mailbox size (as well as 10Mb maximum message size). Students whose mailboxes exceed 100Mb will not be able to receive mail once the quotas take effect. To avoid this problem, please thoroughly clean your mailboxes. This includes emptying your Deleted folder.
These changes will take place on October 15. Please make sure your mailboxes are clean prior to that date.
